LANTRA Professional Off Road 4×4 qualifications:
Off-Road Training courses are designed for professional 4×4 users, our LANTRA approved courses are integrated training and assessment courses which fulfil all H&S requirements for risk assessment and training.
If successful, candidates are qualified as professional off-road drivers, receiving LANTRA certification and identity cards to prove their ability.
The LANTRA qualification lasts for 5 years, after which the 1 day Experienced User course is required to update skills and techniques to current H&S standards. LANTRA are recognised by the Health and Safety Executive. All of our trainers are LANTRA and DSA approved.

Course Content:
- comply with legal requirements with an emphasis on Safe Practice
- identify the risks associated with the use of 4×4 vehicles off road
- understand the main causes of accidents
- identify the type of 4wd transmission and it’s controls
- understand the function of all instruments
- understand the function of all safety systems (ABS, Descent Control, ESP/ESC, Traction Control, Active Suspension etc)
- carry out daily checks and pre-start checks, including vehicle preparation
- identify and report any faults
- start up and drive over a variety of terrain and ground conditions
- moving from on-road to off-road
- carry out a ‘Failed Hill’ climb
- carry out a Risk Assessment and plan the route
- operate the 4×4 safely on a variety of slopes and terrain (including crossing, ruts, ditches, ridges and water)
- regaining traction
- identify loading/towing capacities
- understand the dangers of recovery
- understand legal and practical requirements for travelling on the public road
- understand environmental issues regarding off-road driving
Duration:
- 1 day refresher/assessment and corrective training for experienced operators
- 2 day Professional course

One of our Lantra Approved 4×4 sites (Devon, Cumbria, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Ayrshire and others across the UK).
Costs:
